11 Questions for... Mijune
11 Questions for... Mijune
First and foremost pretty good friends from the past, now also known as Creative Coup VON JUNE, who like to travel, preferably as close to the sun as possible and preferably dive as much as possible in the sea. It was one June, when on exactly such a trip, the idea was born to bundle our experiences and fantasies. That was quite a while ago and it took a few years to realize it. But fortunately at some point the penny dropped that there is no reason to wait :).
Our fashion label MIJUNE was our first free project, which we started as a duo. MIJUNE stands for unique pieces that we make with passion and attention to detail mostly in our studio in Berlin. Since we get our inspiration best "on the road", a MIJUNE piece can also be created on the roof terrace of our second home in Mallorca or even directly with a view of the sea and our feet in the sand. We need this spirit and let it flow into our creations.
02. What did you want to be when you were little and why?
Rebekka: I really wanted to be an actress. That's why I was always dancing or in theater groups, to escape reality and dive into fictional worlds where I could be one of my many selves. Even back then, I was already on several tracks and, in addition to acting, I also had an architecture office in a friend's nursery, sewed strange Pocahontas costumes for my Barbies, was a fashion photographer and, with my friend Jana, we installed a TV studio á la MTV or VIVA in my teenager's room, until at some point Dad's video camera fell on the floor. (With today's possibilities we would probably be filthy rich adolescents with our own Youtube channel)
Nina: Where to start ... I found so many things exciting and couldn't imagine having to choose just one thing, the variety of possibilities seemed immense. From princess, astronaut, whale researcher, storm researcher, prima ballerina to pop star - my little sister and I were enthusiastic into the hairbrush in front of the mirror performers - there were so many fantastic career choices. All inspired by various movies I saw or heroes I idolized.
At some point I discovered my father's camera for me and photographed what came in front of the lens - special preference to turn my sister and girlfriends into dazzling models - no closet was safe from me in my search for beautiful clothes, the attic of my grandparents was turned upside down in the hope of finding unique treasures.
03. What do you like about your work or what makes it special?
The variety of projects we experience as VON JUNE ... Every project and every assignment is a new journey. In the process, we meet many great people and are in constant exchange. But the special thing is first and foremost that we are not alone, even between productions, but always in pairs. This is a treasure that we guard with a lot of respect and attention. And our common baby is definitely MIJUNE.
MIJUNE are basically ourselves... we can realize ideas and rummage for wonderful materials for it, preferably in foreign countries and are free of opinions and wishes.

04. ...and what not at all?
Paper cams. Especially writing invoices. Even worse, chasing invoices.
05. What is your most important work tool?
We are girls, so our dolls. They don't talk, they don't bitch and they don't look disgusted when we get a chocolate flash. The perfect models, then :)

06. What is the most beautiful thing about your workplace?
The view of the sky, which is always and every day different, whether in the same place or somewhere else ... yet the sky is and always will be the sky.

07. Where do you get your ideas, what inspires you?
Our ideas surprise us in everyday life. But especially faraway countries and beaches inspire us, that's where we collect the most, both ideas and materials. And if we are in the fat B, we at least imagine that the traffic is the sound of the sea.

08. What went really wrong last year?
Of course we stumbled over one or the other small stone last year. But nothing really went wrong - in this sense full speed ahead!
09. What is your next goal? Which projects are coming up?
We have been planning a trip to Chile together for a while. On the paths of Rebekka's roots, we would especially like to meet the Mapuchen and look over their shoulder at their unique handicraft.
10. How does it work for you? How do you divide up the work? Is one of you "the boss" or are both of you alpha hussies?
Alpha women are both of us:) As soon as one of us has set something in her head, she wants to realize it... it would be bad if we couldn't realize with MIJUNE what wants to come out of us. Since we are ping pong masters and continue to spin the thoughts of the others, we are fortunately not in each other's way. On the contrary. This interaction with each other is something very, very precious - we know that and are extremely grateful for it! Of course we also divide up the work. But there is no fixed division, so we are exceptionally pragmatic....
