Table Turn
On one side, Contour shows closed with a half curve, and open on the straight side. Because the tables designed by the New York design studio Bower always appear as a double of unequal size, the result is a play of transparencies and geometries. The side plates can be placed inside and on top of each other for a perfect fit and carry plates made of colored glass. Turned against each other, the glasses overlap, as do the semicircular cheeks of white lacquered wood. Thus, depending on the arrangement, they sometimes appear heavy and space-consuming, sometimes light and floating. When superimposed, the tinted panes give rise to nuances between peach and gray - and cast a correspondingly colored shadow on the floor in the light level. The Contour-tables are 48 and 50 centimeters high and serve as furniture with both practical and graphic qualities. tp
