Harry Nuriev plays with the past in the "Pink Mama"
Harry Nuriev sets up the "Pink Mama" in his hometown of Moscow - and dispenses with the color pink entirely.

In the middle of Moscow's historic center, Harry Nuriev proves how well rough concrete goes with color. Here, in his hometown, the 36-year-old co-founder of Crosby Studios, who is currently celebrated as a shooting star of the scene for his productions and recently cooperated with Nike, designed the "Pink Mama."
The interior is hypermodern - although a certain nostalgia resonates. Five-meter-high concrete ceilings define the space, which is on the first floor of an apartment building built during Josef Stalin's reign. These become a canvas for mint green and bold red; the latter is the dominant color throughout the bar area, which is built on a plateau and features an oversized red Kremlin star (a lighting installation by Russian design studio Sila Sveta) hovering above purple velvet chairs by Gubi. In the restaurant area of "Pink Mama," Nuriev opted for semicircular velvet benches and chairs in mint green; he hid the windows behind transparent green glass panels that reflect the light. Chandeliers of pink brass, reminiscent of the delicate shelves from Crosby Studios' "Golden" collection, which Nuriev designed especially for the restaurant, hang above the round tables, and Japanese-inspired fusion cuisine is served.
Late last year, "Pink Mama" opened in a former Stalinist-era building.

Gray concrete, red glass and shiny copper finishes come together in the bar area.
