Side table with strong local touch by Util

Bar Basso is a legendary place: more than seventy years ago it introduced the ritual of the aperitivo, being the first bar in Milan to start mixing cocktails for the common people. Bar Basso is also where the famous Negroni Sbagliato was invented, still their trademark cocktail.

Prominent namesake
Every year during the Salone del Mobile, the international design scene also meets in this bar to enjoy a drink or two in style in the evening. And so it was of course a perfect fit that the young Portuguese design brand Util exhibited its side table Basso Bar Cart, named after the bar, for the first time at the Milan Furniture Fair.

New Look
Created by designer and Util co-founder Manuel Amaral Netto, the table is characterized by a simple but concise design language. Despite the design reduction to the essentials, it is suitable for a variety of applications. Extremely useful are the four swivel castors, thanks to which the robust table can be moved very easily. Equally useful is the waterproof cork mat on the top shelf, which ensures that the surface is not damaged - for example, by drops rolling down the cocktail glass. The base of the table is also an open container that can hold everything from bottles to magazines. At Supersalone 2021, manufacturer Util presented its Basso Bar Cart in a new zinc finish. By omitting the lacquer layer, the side table appears even more reduced in design - elementary and expressive at the same time. ns
